Not to be Oprah or anything, but it's time for a post about my favorite things. Sam and I were texting and he said, "Oprah's talk show was just like a blog. Oprah is a tastemaker!"
I'm already starting to get way too excited about the holidays, but I want the focus this year to be on giving and generosity. After moving into my new house, I can think of a million very expensive things I "need." Granted, my broken stove is actually a need, but is the love seat from world market that I've been eyeing for months a need? Or all the rugs at the flea market that cost $1000? Also the awful wooden chandelier that HAS to be replaced. (It doesn't. I just hate it.) I have realized that I need to take the focus off of myself. Fixing up a house is a very long process. I need to learn the meaning of the word "contentment." That's why this year, I am working really hard to give meaningful and lasting gifts. The time spent with family is more valuable than getting a new loveseat.
I love giving gifts even more than getting them! I think gifts that are sentimental and humorous or something very useful are always the best. So I have compiled a list of simple, beautiful, fun, and lasting gifts for all your loved ones. Hopefully this helps all your gift-giving quandaries! Happy Holidays! I hope you spend time with family and do not go to the mall until the day after Thanksgiving when you're already full up with turkey and warm hugs!
