My New Years Eve last year consisted of me overdoing it and trying to make every "good luck" dish known to man--lentils, a whole fish, a whole chicken. Never again. This is an easy cocktail recipe that you can make while entertaining friends, and it doesn't require any fancy bitters or syrups. Just the regular ole stuff. That's my kind of drink!
Because 2017 is about spending more time with friends of course. It's going to be about putting down my phone, and listening, and focusing on gratitude! So no fancy drinks here. Just something you can make a big batch of and be done with so you can actually spend time enjoying your New Years Eve with your loved ones!
I got real lazy and bought Prosecco since it came in a tiny bottle instead of Champagne since it was 12:00 on a Friday, and I was not about to finish a bottle of champagne midday. Also note the half-drunk HANDLE of Titos... Not it!
Sam can now put "Hand Model" on his resume. Note: These are not my hairy hands!!! I feel like I must disclose this so no one gets worried.
NEW YEARS CHAMPAGNE FIZZ RECIPE
Ingredients for one drink:
1 oz vodka or gin
1 sprig of fresh mint
3 oz grapefruit juice
3 oz champagne or prosecco
In an 8 ounce glass, tear mint into the bottom. Muddle mint with a muddler or a wooden spoon. Add 1 ounce of vodka or gin. Add grapefruit juice. Top off with champage and stir. Add a sprig of mint for garnish.
So easy! This would even be a great drink for a New Years Day brunch!
What are your New Year's plans? We are visiting with friends in Germantown and I'm making Bruschetta Crostini! I'm excited to finally have some plans this year. Generally I'm a little scared to get out and drive, but I'm wearing a new outfit and I'm going to enjoy ringing in 2017 with friends and champagne. And cheese of course... I hope you enjoy this recipe! Cheers!
