Happy Monday! Is it too in your face to post an alcoholic beverage at 8:00 am on a Monday? You're only a week away from the greatest holiday/excuse to put booze in your ice cream drinks, so I'm giving myself a pass. I was at World Market, which is arguably more dangerous than Target, and I saw these cute Root Beer bottles and had to buy them. I'm the lamest person ever at World Market. They have all these unique items, and I pick up root beer, which you can buy anywhere, and white bowls (which you can also buy anywhere). But it gave me an idea! Why can't a float have booze in it? Root Beer sounds like beer, but is in fact, not beer. Sad face. So I'm here to put the beer back in Root Beer! Actually, it's vodka. Sorry folks. Just seven more days til you can booze it up in a lawn chair under the car port if you're like me. Tacky, I know. But that's what the fourth is about!
In goes the ice cream first. I bought this pretty little pint of Talenti Caramel Cookie Crunch Gelato. It's so creamy and delicious with the little chocolate bits. It makes the drink taste kind of like a bushwacker!
Pour an ounce of vodka in there. Now we're talkin!
Then add the root beer a little at a time, stirring a bit as you go, because it's so bubbly!
Delicious! Throw a straw in there and you're done! Three ingredients is not too shabby.
I hope you enjoy your Fourth of July and this tasty drink with friends. Happy Fourth!
BOOZY ROOT BEER FLOAT WITH CARAMEL COOKIE GELATO
makes 2 (double or triple for more)
1 bottle of root beer
2 ounces of vodka
1 pint of caramel cookie gelato from Talenti
straws for serving
You'll need two tall glasses for this. In each glass, place three scoops of ice cream. Pour once ounce of vodka in each glass. Pour the root beer slowly over each glass a little at a time, dividing evenly between the two. Stir a little as you go to make sure you get enough root beer. Garnish with a straw and serve! Easy peasy :)
