I'm on a major rosé kick lately, so with temperatures in the hundreds (yes the one hundreds), I decided to freeze it and blend it and make a killer frosé (frozen rosé, get it?). This is the perfect recipe for a girls night, which my lovely friends and I periodically have. We're great at hanging out and even better at drinking wine.
My week has been LOOONG, folks. I have no idea how. I have done absolutely nothing but make some nutso Instagram stories. Do you guys get sucked into Instagram stories like me? It's a sickness. I also made a blog post that didn't quite work out. Chilaquiles taste great and look disgusting, so that post went down the toilet. I haven't gone to the grocery store out of sheer laziness. So on my way home from work, I picked up some rosemary and started working on a delicious frosé recipe.
It's easy. Your friends will love it. There's no reason not to make this.
The rosemary simple syrup is a nice touch. To make simple syrup you add equal parts water and sugar with a sprig of rosemary to a pan and boil for one minute. Muddle the rosemary into the mixture. Set it aside for 30 minutes until the rosemary is infused and the syrup is cool.
Think ahead on this one, so the night before, throw some rose into a couple of ice trays and let it freeze. If you're making a large batch, add a whole bottle to a plastic container and freeze overnight. I also froze several strawberries and peach slices in a separate bag.
Add your frozen strawberries and peaches to the blender with a splash of simple syrup and a squeeze of lemon. Please tell me, is there anything better than a frozen peach?
Then you'll throw in your rose. It's going to be a bit slushy and not totally frozen because of the alcohol.
Blend it up and you have delicious frosé! If you're looking to add a bit more alchol, vodka would be a great addition to this!
Peach and Strawberry Frosé with Rosemary Simple Syrup
makes 4 drinks
4 peach slices
1 750 mL bottle of rosé
1 sprig of rosemary
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
The night before or a few hours before, pour rosé into 2 ice trays and freeze. An ice tray should hold about two glasses of wine. If you can't freeze it all, hang on to the leftover rosé in the fridge. Slice the peach and trim the ends off the strawberries. Freeze the strawberries and peach slices in a plastic bag.
When you're ready to make the drinks, to make the simple syrup, in a small saucepan, add the water, sugar and rosemary. Bring to a boil and stir. Boil for one minute. Remove from heat and muddle the rosemary by crushing it slightly with a wooden spoon into the simple syrup. Set aside to cool for 30 minutes. Remove the rosemary before use.
In a blender, add 4 peach slices, 4 strawberries, 2 trays of rosé and 1/3 cup simple syrup. Squeeze half the lemon into the mixture. If you want an extra kick, add a splash of vodka or some of the leftover rosé. Blend until smooth and frothy. Garnish with a split strawberry on the edge of the glass. Serve immediately.
