Recipe type: Main
Serves: 2-3
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 tsp oyster sauce
  • ½ tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 broccoli crown, cut into inch pieces
  • 1 white or yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 thumb sized ginger root, peeled and sliced into matchsticks
  • 1 serrano, sliced (optional)
  • 2 red or yellow bell peppers, sliced thinly
  • 1 cup fresh green beans
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • a handful of fresh basil, chopped (about ⅓ cup)
  • white rice for serving
  1. Whisk together the soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar in a small bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium high heat, add 1 tbsp sesame oil. Add the broccoli, and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring frequently until parts are charred. Add 1 tsp water to the skillet and stir for 30 seconds. Remove the broccoli to a plate and set aside.
  3. To the same skillet, add the remaining sesame oil and heat to medium high heat. Add the onion, garlic, ginger, and serrano if using. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 3 minutes. Add the bell peppers and cook for 2 minutes. Add the green beans and green onion and cook for 2 minutes more. Add the sauce and toss to coat for 30 seconds. Add in the basil and broccoli, tossing to coat for another 30 seconds. Immediately remove from heat and serve with white rice.
